Hello and happy Sunday room 5 students!
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend and a gentle reminder to make sure to wear your formal uniforms on Monday.
In Mathematics, we continue to look at the relationship between multiplication and division as related facts that can help us to solve questions if we are stuck. We have displayed our understanding using arrays, equal groups, number lines and either repeated addition or subtraction. Students also started to talk about perimeter of a shape as the distance around the outside of the shape.
In Writing, students wrote a couple of different event stories. One was based on an event that happened in the their lives, using transition words. The other was imagining that we were going to celebrate our 100th birthday and what interesting things we would chose to do during our special day. The students had fun being transformed with pictures that "aged" them somewhat and then using transition words to tell about what they planned to do during their special day.
In Science, we measure various sounds in and outside of the classroom. The students were asked to predict what sounds would be the loudest or softest and we even had the opportunity to measure the decibel level of a police siren as they were in the parking lot just beside our school! ( The reading was 92 decibels!)
In Social Studies, students have been completing their Google Slide presentations on the exports and imports of each of the countries we study and realizing that many different goods come from all over the world to us here in Canada.
Just a reminder that there is no school on Friday because of Parent Teacher conferences which will be held online Thursday night and Friday between 8 and 12. Take care and see everyone on Monday!
