Hello Room 5!
Another busy week has come and gone and only one more week before Spring Break is here! As we are heading for the break, please make sure you bring in your library books for Thursday as they need to be returned before the break.
Thank you to the parents I was able to connect with during Parent Teacher Conferences this past week. It is nice to chat about your child's progress and realize that we only have 3 more months of grade three before the end of the school year.
In Mathematics, we have been looking at word problems working with multiplication and division. Students also created their own word problems and remembered to put question marks at the end of their questions!
In Social Studies, we have been exploring Rights and Responsibilities for children around the world and realizing how lucky we are in the country of Canada to have so many rights entrenched in our daily lives for children. Students made posters to recognize how important these rights are and why children's rights need to be protected.
In Science, we are looking at hearing and sound and ways that we can protect our ears from any type of hearing loss. Students put their knowledge to the test and shared with others how we can do this.
In Writing, we are looking at how we can show emotions in our writing rather than simply telling our reader that "She is happy." Students can write about body language, how a person is feeling or what they might be saying to show the emotion. We are starting to transition from event writing stories into climbing stories where the students introduce characters, a problem, attempts to solve the problem and an extended ending.
Have a wonderful Sunday and see everyone in formal uniforms on Monday!
