February 16th - 19th

Another busy week of February has flown by and we have only one more week left in February of 2021!

The students have been working hard on completing their "How to..." posters in writing to include a bold title, a list of materials needed and the steps needed in order to complete the task or skill the students are teaching to others.

In Math, we have been continuing to work on Magic Numbers, bar graphs and estimating length of several classroom items including our desks. Students have also been practicing their adding and subtracting skills playing Race to 100 or Race to 0 for subtraction practice.

In Science, we are continuing to look at Hot and Cold Temperatures and next week's homework focuses on design a container to insulate an ice cube and keep it from melting. We have explored various materials that help to keep things warm and now the students will figure out the best materials to use to keep something cold for an extended period of time.

In Social Studies, we have keyed in on the cultural contributions of the Inuit people in Iqaluit and the ways they continue to keep their cultural traditions alive and passed on to future generations. We will next be exploring the role of the Acadian people in Meteghan, Nova Scotia.

I hope you have had a wonderful weekend and see you tomorrow in formal uniforms. Also a reminder that Wednesday is Pink Shirt Day if you would like to participate.
